Broken Tooth

I find it when I try to sleep.
Flashbacks of father's abuse
Come out of hidden stores I keep.
I try to keep them locked away,
To no avail, I jerk and twitch,
The venom fuels my soul's decay-
My mind must scratch this foulest itch.
The pustules lodged within my mind
Let loose a vile cacophony.
Thoughts and visions leave me blind
To life's true possibilities.
