Participants Needed for a Project About Childhood Trauma and Mental Health
University of Birmingham – Nursing and Midwifery, College of Medicine and Health
The project aims to understand what enables people who have experienced childhood trauma to maintain or restore their mental health into adulthood. The project takes a salutogenic approach, meaning the focus is on what promotes and maintains health and wellbeing rather than what causes people to become unwell.
Who can take part?
We are looking for participants who are:
Over the age of 25 and;
Live in the West Midlands and;
Have experienced a form of trauma in childhood
What’s involved?
You will take part in an in‑person interview at the University of Birmingham where you will create a Tree of Life — a drawing that represents different aspects of your life including your heritage, strengths, values and dreams.
You will then be asked questions about your tree by the researchers and invited to share stories.
You will not be asked about your experiences of trauma.
Interview length: 1–2 hours
Travel expenses reimbursed
£50 Love2Shop voucher provided as a thank you
Benefits of taking part
